Bible Term: Paraclete

In general, a paraclete is a mediator or advocate.

Specifically, the Paraclete is the Holy Spirit (or Holy Ghost), serving as our comforter or advocate.

Paraclete was not found in any versions of the Bible consulted but is sometimes used by people when discussing the role and function of the Holy Spirit.

A lifelong student of the Bible, Peter DeHaan, PhD, wrote the 700-page website ABibleADay.com to encourage people to explore the Bible. His main blog and numerous books urge Christians to push past the status quo and reconsider how they practice their faith in every area of their lives.
