Bible Term: Heresy

Heresy is a belief that is inconsistent with what the Bible says. It is often attributed to the instruction of a false prophet.

An alternate phrase for heresy is false teaching.

Key verse about heresy: “But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets (Acts 24:14, KJV).

A lifelong student of the Bible, Peter DeHaan, PhD, wrote the 1,000-page website ABibleADay.com to encourage people to explore the Bible. His main blog and many books urge Christians to push past the status quo and reconsider how they practice their faith in every area of their lives.
