Bible Term: Exhortation

Exhortation is a fancy word that includes the ideas of teaching, instruction, encouragement, and urging.

As followers of Jesus, this is something that we are instructed to do to each other, as Paul taught in Romans 15:14 and 1 Thessalonians 5:14.

Key verse about Exhortation: Brothers and sisters, I urge you to bear with my word of exhortation, for in fact I have written to you quite briefly, Hebrews 13:22, NIV).

A lifelong student of the Bible, Peter DeHaan, PhD, wrote the 1,000-page website ABibleADay.com to encourage people to explore the Bible. His main blog and many books urge Christians to push past the status quo and reconsider how they practice their faith in every area of their lives.
