Bible Term: Sacrament

A sacrament is a religious rite or Christian ceremony. The two common, and universally recognized, sacraments are baptism and communion (also called the Lord’s Supper, Holy Communion, or the Eucharist).

Some Christians have defined a total of seven sacraments: baptism, communion, confirmation, marriage, reconciliation, the anointing, and holy orders.

A lifelong student of the Bible, Peter DeHaan, PhD, wrote the 1,000-page website ABibleADay.com to encourage people to explore the Bible. His main blog and many books urge Christians to push past the status quo and reconsider how they practice their faith in every area of their lives.
