Bible Term: Hell

Hell is a place of eternal punishment and anguish; it’s the opposite of heaven.

Although heaven is a popular concept, hell is not.

However, to accept the existence of heaven as an eternal reward for those who follow God, one must also acknowledge an alternative, a place of eternal punishment for those who reject him.

Key verse about Hell: For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them in chains of darkness to be held for judgment; (2 Peter 2:4, NIV).

A lifelong student of the Bible, Peter DeHaan, PhD, wrote the 1,000-page website ABibleADay.com to encourage people to explore the Bible. His main blog and many books urge Christians to push past the status quo and reconsider how they practice their faith in every area of their lives.
