Bible Term: False Teaching

False teaching, or false doctrine, is instruction that is inconsistent with what the Bible teaches; it’s often attributed to the teaching of false prophets.

Another word for false teaching is heresy.

Key verse about false teaching: “This false teaching is like a little yeast that spreads through the whole batch of dough! I am trusting the Lord to keep you from believing false teachings. God will judge that person, whoever he is, who has been confusing you” (Galatians 5:9-10, NLT).

A lifelong student of the Bible, Peter DeHaan, PhD, wrote the 1,000-page website ABibleADay.com to encourage people to explore the Bible. His main blog and many books urge Christians to push past the status quo and reconsider how they practice their faith in every area of their lives.
