Bible Reading Plan - The New Testament

Reading the New Testament is a great place to focus your time reading the Bible.  The New Testament centers on the life of Jesus and the subsequent work of his followers.

Instead of reading straight through the New Testament from Matthew to Revelation, our New Testament reading plan mixes the various books together for a more varied and diverse reading schedule.

There are 27 books in the New Testament, written by various authors, the most prolific of which was Paul.  The New Testament contains:

  • The Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John), which document Jesus' life and teaching from different perspectives and for different audiences.

  • The book of Acts covers the early church and was written by Dr. Luke.

  • Twenty-one books are letters (or "epistles") written by key followers of Jesus to various churches or groups of people.

  • The concluding book is Revelation, known for its vivid end-time focus.
