The Book of Second John

The author of the book of 2 John (as well as 3 John) is identified only as "the elder" and is attributed to Jesus' disciple John, who also wrote the gospel of John, 1 John, and Revelation.

This is a personal letter seemingly to an unnamed women and her children, although the greeting could be euphemistically referencing a church

The principles contained in it are applicable to all who follow Jesus.  Among other things, it warns to be careful of false teaching from "deceivers" (2 John 1:7).

There are many parallels between 1 John and 2 John. The love, obedience, truth, and antichrist themes from 1 John are repeated in 2 John.
