The Book of Ezra

The book of Ezra is one of the historical books in the Old Testament.  The book is named after it's primary character, Ezra.

Chronologically, Ezra picks up over a century after the conclusion of 2 Kings and 2 Chronicles.  (The books of Esther and Daniel give us some insight into what happened during this time, when the people lived in Babylonian captivity.

Ezra was instrumental in helping the struggling remnant of God's people rebuild the temple in Jerusalem and restore worship.

Nehemiah was a contemporary of Ezra and led in the rebuilding of the wall around Jerusalem.
